Composition of Migrants to Gurgaon District of State Haryana, India

Migration within the national boundaries of a country or internal migration is greater than the migration across the national boundaries. Also the impact of internal migration on the economic prosperity as well as the demographic diversity of the area of origin as well as area of destination is quite visible. However, the future growth of India is often discussed in perspective of megacities such as Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata etc. and thus smaller cities which often play a crucial role in internal migration and the impacts arising out of it ,usually get ignored. This facet of internal migration where the focus is on megacities while the smaller and rapidly growing cities such as Gurgaon get neglected intensifies the challenge of adequate planning and effective actions that should be undertaken in the context of internal migration. The purpose of this paper is to explore and analyze the composition of migrants into Gurgaon district of state Haryana, India.
